En-courage-ment - The Power to be Courageous

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer (be encouraged*); I have overcome the world.

20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Let's have a look at our Number One Example - JESUS.

In the Beatitudes, HE told us when we are slapped on the cheek, to "turn the other cheek."

Matthew 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.  .GospelSeek.com

This doesn't sound very courageous, does it?  Well, one of the things we are to do is to rightfully divide the Word of Truth.  There is no chance that JESUS ever backed down from corrupt authority, both in the natural and spiritual realm.

But HE never got side-tracked, either.  Remember that JESUS personally faced Satan in the wilderness, HE triumphed over him by resisting him!  Here is how HE won every battle. 

JESUS never resisted in HIS own strength.  Realize that any time in HIS life, HE could have called on the legions of righteous angels for help and support . . .   HE could have taken anyone in a fair fight, HE could have blasted humankind from the face of the earth . . . 

But HE always resisted in the power that came to HIM from Heaven!  HIS courage (and HE had immense courage) came from HIS confidence that HE was backed by the ALMIGHTY GOD!

So, HE wasn't out engaging in fistfights.  HE had much better things to do.  HE was waging war against the corruption that comes from the spirit of this world.  

And that is exactly what HE wants us to do.  We aren't here just to gratify our flesh.  We are here to make a difference!  We are here to choose the right battle.  And we are here to be victorious, no matter how we feel or how we look!

Courage for today comes by living for HIM and calling on HIS power to overcome in our circumstances.  Our courage will result in monumental accomplishments for HIS Kingdom.  Yes you . . .   and me!  We can do it!  After all, we have HIS help!  And HE never loses a battle!
