Speaking the truth in love . . . . Used mostly for an excuse to hurt someone’s feelings with what we perceive to be the truth.

This is tricky business, speaking the truth.  Here are 5 Rules for speaking the truth in love:

1.    I will only speak if I am sure that it is my place to speak.

2.    I will be sure that I have to truth as founded and grounded in the Word of GOD which is the Bible.

3.    I will be absolutely sure that I am doing what the LORD would want me to do, and not acting out of any self-promoting purpose.

4.    I will think of a way (with the LORD’S guidance) to approach the subject in a kind and loving way.

5.    I will not speak of the problem without offering a solution.

If you follow these rules, you will find that you will not be “speaking the truth in love” very often!  That is the good part.  And when you do, you will not be damaging another!

Remember that JESUS was always gentle with sinners.  How could we be otherwise? Answer, we can’t!

So—don’t worry about what others are doing unless you are sure that it is HIS will that you do!  Then pray hard and go if you feel you must.  And remember, not only to offer a solution, but be a part of the solution
