Ephesians
4:22 |
If your mother told you to “take off that hat” when you were young, how would you accomplish that? Would you just sit there until by some coincidence it just fell off, or would you reach up and take it off?
So, when the Apostle Paul tells us to “Put off the old self,” well, what do we do.
Do we wait for the LORD to intervene? Do we just sit there until the old self falls of by itself? Nice if it would!
No! We do what we are told. We make every effort to put it off! We struggle, grasp, we succeed, we fail. But most of all, we continue!
Are you in the “continuing mode?” You can stop, you know. You can give up. That is well within our power. We have the power to give up!
Many have and many will but there is hope! Though you stumble, you will not fall. This is FATHER’S promise—not mine!
HE says that HE will lift us up even when we stumble, just like you do or would with your own child!
So, make the effort today and every day! Put off the old and . . . Make room for your new attitude!
