Hear the Ten Commandments

The Ten Commandments
(From Exodus 20:1-17 - New Living Translation)

1 "Do not worship any other gods besides ME."
2 "Do not make idols of any kind"
3 "Do not misuse the name of the LORD your GOD. "
4 "Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy"
5 "Honor your father and mother"
6 "Do not murder"
7 "Do not commit adultery"
8 "Do not steal"
9 "Do not testify falsely against your neighbor"

10 "Do not covet"

One argument against following the
Ten Commandments is that they are not relevant in today's world.  And I will agree with that 100%.  Wait, don't leave.  Hear me out.

Watch TV, listen to radio, surf the web, watch your co-workers and fellow-students.  This is all evidence that we as a people have done everything we can to remove the relevance of the Ten Commandments from our society.

As much as we may personally love and honor them, you have to admit that society is on the fast track to destroy them from all public record.

But, back to the relevance issue.  Are they?  Well, of course they are.  They are , were and always will be relevant and more.  They are the way the LORD our GOD fashioned people to behave.

The LORD has given us a Conscience!  Picture it like this. If the Conscience were a computer, the Ten Commandments would be the Operating System.  Violate the Operating System and you will get a Blue Screen Error notifying you that you have Performed an Illegal Operation (Macintosh users must talk to a Windows user to understand this analogy).

If not for the fall of Adam, we would live every second of our lives in full accordance with them!  And would that be a better life than the one we are now living?  Would this world be a bit higher in quality if governed by the FATHER'S Commands.

Of course it would.  But that will never happen in this age.  True, but I have good news and good hope!  As we put the Ten Commandments into effect in our own lives, we make little pockets of Eternity around us.

That is where I want to live - in a pocket of Eternity!  How about you?
